Client Services Officer

Location: Alma House, Stroud
Salary: £27,000 FTE (pro rata)
Hours: 22 hours per week, flexible working with hybrid options (approx. 70% office‑based)

We are seeking a confident, organised, and people‑focused Client Services Officer to play a central role in the smooth and effective running of our Counselling Service. This is an opportunity to lead a committed administrative team, support processes that directly impact client care, and help ensure that our service remains responsive, supportive, and client‑centred.

Working closely with our Clinical Service Managers (CSMs), you will oversee the operational elements of the client journey — from registration and waiting list management to allocation, communication, and feedback. You’ll be the first point of escalation for complex or challenging administrative issues and will help create a calm, structured, and supportive environment for staff and clients.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys coordinating people and processes, solving problems, and contributing to a team delivering meaningful, community‑focused work.

By generously dedicating your expertise and time as a Qualified Volunteer Counsellor (Inclusion Fund), you will provide professional, high-quality counselling services to clients accessing GCS through this essential pathway.

Deliver qualified therapeutic counselling to individuals who rely on our Inclusion Fund for support.

Work with clients who may be experiencing complex and difficult situations, including those presenting with risk concerns and a history of trauma.

Maintain accurate and timely client records in line with GCS and professional body standards.

Uphold GCS’s commitment to safeguarding and ethical practice.

Who We Are Looking For

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who:

Hold a recognised professional counselling qualification (Diploma or equivalent).

Are a member of a recognised professional body (e.g., BPC, BACP, UKCP) and adhere to their ethical framework.

Have proven experience and are comfortable working with complex client presentations, including trauma and risk.

Are passionate about accessible mental health care and supporting the most vulnerable in the community.

Commitment

We ask for a minimum commitment of at least one year to ensure consistency and stability for our clients.
