Management Accountant
We are seeking a Management Accountant to join our team and play a key role in ensuring financial integrity and supporting strategic decision-making. This is a new position within GCS, offering an exciting opportunity to shape processes and contribute to the charity’s success.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly management accounts and explain variances against budget.

Develop reporting processes for accurate and timely departmental reports.

Manage balance sheet reconciliations.

Support the Head of Finance & Operations with policy and process development.

Assist with payroll submissions for 100+ employees and process payroll journals.

Contribute to annual budget preparation and audit processes.

About You

Qualifications: Professional Accountancy Qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/AAT) or qualified by experience.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in financial management, budgeting, and reporting (charity sector experience desirable).

Skills: Strong analytical ability, proficiency in Xero and Excel, excellent communication skills.

Counsellor (Adult Services) – Opportunity for EMDR Training (subject to availability)
Locations: Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud, Cirencester, Tewkesbury
Contract: Casual (Zero Hours)
Remuneration:

£21 per invoiceable client session (Qualified Counsellor)

£28 per invoiceable client session (Accredited Counsellor)

Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS) is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and skilled counsellors to join our team delivering high-quality 1:1 counselling for adults across local communities. You’ll work both in person and remotely (telephone or Microsoft Teams), offering open‑ended or brief‑focused interventions tailored to client needs.

We are particularly interested in hearing from counsellors who are approaching accreditation, or already accredited, who wish to train in EMDR.
GCS is committed to expanding our trauma-informed provision, and successful applicants will have the opportunity to access EMDR training and integrate this modality into their clinical practice within a supportive, well-established service.

Volunteer Opportunity: Qualified Counsellor (Inclusion Fund)
GCS is committed to providing accessible counselling to all members of our community. We believe financial barriers should not prevent individuals from receiving necessary therapeutic support. Our Inclusion Fund offers reduced rates to clients who could not otherwise afford our standard fees.

The Role:

By generously dedicating your expertise and time as a Qualified Volunteer Counsellor (Inclusion Fund), you will provide professional, high-quality counselling services to clients accessing GCS through this essential pathway.

Deliver qualified therapeutic counselling to individuals who rely on our Inclusion Fund for support.

Work with clients who may be experiencing complex and difficult situations, including those presenting with risk concerns and a history of trauma.

Maintain accurate and timely client records in line with GCS and professional body standards.

Uphold GCS’s commitment to safeguarding and ethical practice.

Who We Are Looking For

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who:

Hold a recognised professional counselling qualification (Diploma or equivalent).

Are a member of a recognised professional body (e.g., BPC, BACP, UKCP) and adhere to their ethical framework.

Have proven experience and are comfortable working with complex client presentations, including trauma and risk.

Are passionate about accessible mental health care and supporting the most vulnerable in the community.

Commitment

We ask for a minimum commitment of at least one year to ensure consistency and stability for our clients.

Our headquarters are in the centre of Stroud, and GCS has been based here since its inception in 1978.
