CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS) is a major provider of counselling and counselling training within the county. It is a highly valued and reputable charity serving the communities of Gloucestershire. These are exciting times for the organisation, and we are looking to recruit an outstanding leader, a strategic thinker and motivational, collaborative worker.

We are seeking an individual with experience of leadership, organisation development and someone who is interested in the Counselling landscape both
locally and nationally to support and develop our Counselling and Training Services.
The role requires an individual who enjoys working both at a strategic level while maintaining a focus on the day-to-day operations of the organisation, working with
our excellent Senior Leadership Team to make things happen and reporting back to the Board of Trustees.

We envisage this post being between 28 – 35 hours per week. We are open to conversations surrounding working hours and flexible/hybrid working. Salary is
£55,000 p.a. FTE pro rata. GCS offers a friendly and supportive work environment based in the centre of Stroud, 25 days annual leave (pro rata), a contributory pension and a chance to lead a worthwhile organisation making a real difference to people’s lives.

HEAD OF COUNSELLING

Due to the growth in our services, we are looking to recruit a Head of Counselling to provide leadership for the Counselling Service, represent the Clinical perspective within our Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the strategic development of the organisation. 

We are seeking an individual with experience of leadership, holding Clinical Governance within organisations and someone who is interested in the Counselling landscape both locally and nationally to support and develop our Counselling Service. The role requires an individual who enjoys working both at a strategic level while maintaining a focus on the day-to-day operations of the Counselling Service.   

The role is advertised between 21 – 35 hours so this could be a full-time or part time post, please indicate your availability on your application. We are open to conversations surrounding working hours and flexible working.

THEORY SEMINAR TUTOR

Come and join our Diploma Training Team as a Theory Seminar Tutor. Our Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling runs over three academic years and is an accredited course. The Theory Seminar Tutor delivers a theory module of the course to a year group.

This position is integral to the Diploma staff team and supports the development of trainees in their contributions within seminars, review meetings and reports. This role requires an experienced, qualified and accredited psychodynamic counsellor or psychoanalytic psychotherapist with a strong foundation in the theoretical underpinnings of Psychodynamic work.

TRAINING SUPERVISORS

We are recruiting for Training Supervisors for our Diploma in Open Ended Psychodynamic Counselling – these positions are open to experienced and qualified supervisors who are practicing Accredited Counsellors or Psychotherapists with a recognised Psychodynamic training or a good understanding of psychodynamic theory and practice.

There are also opportunities for placements for Supervisors who are in training or recently qualified.

The trainees who are on the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling undertake their placement with the Counselling Service at GCS and their supervision is also provided by GCS. Whilst a training supervisor takes on the clinical supervision, they are also responsible for developing and embedding the practice of trainees and supporting their development.

While this role reports to the Clinical Service Manager and is part of the Counselling Service there are also a requirement for consultation and input into the Diploma Staff Team.

CHILD & FAMILY COUNSELLOR/PSYCHOTHERAPIST

We are looking to recruit 2 experienced part-time counsellor/Psychotherapists within the Child & Family Service (C&FCS) at GCS to work primarily from our Gloucester venue and also across Stroud/Cheltenham.  This exciting team has developed over the last few years and is looking forward to further growth. We are looking for a dynamic counsellor to join the shaping of this development. 

The C&FCS offers a counselling and psychotherapy service to families, including adults, children and young people who are experiencing difficulties in family life.  Our counsellors and therapists provide individual, specialist therapeutic intervention for individuals or multiples of the family unit.  We can offer short and long-term support, some of which is funded. 

We provide a safe confidential place for children, young people and adults to talk to a skilled counsellor/therapist who will listen and help understand and make sense of feelings and the situation. We have family rooms supplied with resources to support creative interventions. 

1.5 hours group clinical supervision is provided on a fortnightly basis.  

THE APPOINTED COUNSELLOR SHOUD BE: 

  • BACP, UKCP accredited or equivalent. 
  • An experienced counsellor, psychotherapist or family therapist with two years post-qualifying supervised practice and 
  • Child and Adolescence post graduate qualification or proven experience of working with Children and families in a therapeutic setting. 
  • Have an Enhanced DBS clearance.  
  • Flexible and motivated to develop the role.

CONTRACT AVAILABLE:   

7 hours per week up (5 client hours and 2 hours admin/clinical supervision)  

14 hours per week (10 client hours, 4 hours admin/clinical supervision) 

21 hours per week (15 client hours, 6 hours admin/clinical supervision).  

LOCATION: Gloucester City Centre based (Ladybellegate Street) or Cheltenham Town Centre based (Rodney Road) or Stroud (High Street).  

SALARY:  £24,000 – £29,500 pro rata, depending on experience.  

ANNUAL LEAVE: pro rata of 25 days (plus bank holidays)
