FearFree is a Domestic Abuse charity and a commissioned service in Gloucestershire. We specialise in supporting perpetrators of domestic abuse through behaviour change.

We work with both male and female perpetrators, aged 18 and over. We run a number of programmes including a 25-week Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme (DVPP), which is held weekly in both Cheltenham and Gloucester.

One in 4 women and approximately 1 in 7 men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. Domestic abuse is a wide term that incorporates a vast range of harmful acts and behaviours, not just limited to physical violence, sexual abuse and threatening behaviour.

Coercive Control specifically includes behaviours that are used to control, minimise and manipulate others, and at the root of this is the perpetrator’s sense of entitlement and power over their partner. It happens behind closed doors; a sibling, a friend, a neighbour, a colleague – there may be someone that you know who has experienced or is experiencing it.

During this training on Coercive Control, we will cover the following:

  • Definition
  • Perpetrator typologies
  • Typologies of abuse
  • Theories on risk level
  • Case study and practice
  • Victim’s experience
  • Our offer
  • Who we cannot work with
  • Referral
