Who We Are
Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS) was founded in 1984 as a charity, and over forty years later our mission remains the same: to provide professional counselling services which are accessible to all, supported by high-quality training courses across Gloucestershire. We believe that every person deserves the chance to make meaningful, positive changes in their life.
Contents
Whilst GCS does charge a standard fee of £55 to those who are fortunate enough to be able to afford it, we also work hard to raise funds to help support those who aren’t. We are very proud of the fact that 92% of our clients last year accessed counselling at a reduced rate. Being able to offer affordable counselling is at the heart of GCS.

We are proud that our Adult Counselling Service is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), reflecting our dedication to the highest professional standards and ethical practice.
We also recognise that discrimination operates both consciously and unconsciously in society, creating unequal access to opportunities. This awareness shapes everything we do and underpins our commitment to making our services open, inclusive, and accessible to everyone.
BPC Member Institute
In addition to our accredited counselling and training work, GCS is proud to be a Member Institute of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), with an active Postgraduate Committee that enriches our professional community. This reflects our commitment not just to counselling provision, but also to the development and excellence of the profession.
